The Kuna (also called Guna) are an indigenous people of Panama. They live primarily on the islands of the autonomous region of Guna Yala on the Caribbean coast, as well as in parts of Colombia. The Kuna are known for their colorful, handcrafted molas – intricately embroidered textile appliqués that are part of traditional women's clothing.
Their society is well-organized and preserves many traditional structures, including village councils and spiritual leaders. The Kuna have successfully fought for political autonomy and maintain their own language and culture to this day.
